Strike a Pose

One of the newest trends in wedding receptions is the photobooth.

I had heard of places like Smilebooth who specialize in photobooths, but I had pretty well spent my wedding budget by the time I had decided I wanted a photobooth at my wedding. So, I started brainstorming ideas about how I could still do this at my reception. Originally I had planned to use the extra room at my venue and just set up a camera on a tripod and purchase a remote for the camera, essentially letting everyone take their own pictures and use the props that I set in the room, but when I started looking at what it would cost to purchase the tripod, the remote and all the props I was looking at about the same cost as hiring a photographer for a 2 to 3 hour shoot. So I decided to ask talented photographer Amy Pittsinger with Amy Barry Photography if she would want to come to the reception and just set up in the venue office for a few hours and shoot.

She loved the idea and even ended up bringing a white backdrop, which really improved the image quality. A few days leading up to the event, I heard comments from my dad and others, such as, ” I don’t get it” and “I don’t know why you would want that at your reception” but not surprisingly he and everyone seemed to love it once the alcohol started to flow and the party started happening. And the pictures turned out AWESOME!

This was such a fun way to keep your guest entertained! Not everyone likes to dance, but everyone likes to have their picture taken! And, it’s something else that your guest can keep to remember such a fun night!
